Located in Atwood, Kansas at the Atwood Rawlins County  Airport. Sunflower Air Service was founded in 1975 by Gary Worthy as a helicopter spraying operation, later transitioning to fixed wing aircraft.

         After Vietnam, where he served as an Army helicopter pilot, Gary majored in Aviation Management at Metropolitan State College in Denver, CO.  After returning to Atwood, Gary started the business to meet the aerial spraying needs of Rawlins County Farmers. In 1998 the name was changed to Sunflower Aero, Inc, and the business expanded into the ground application business.  By offering both aerial and ground application Sunflower Aero provides a wide variety of goods and services to the farmer.

        Sunflower Aero offers application and sales of most AG chemicals and fertilizers, including bulk sales of some chemicals.
